A rare and early metamorphic stool with pierced lozenge and quatrefoil decoration with lift-up dished seat revealing three treads on molded legs.
A particularly early example of this rare furniture form that became hugely popular is the Regency period, a virtually identical piece, certainly from the same workshop was sold by Christies New York from the Collection of Peggy and David Rockefeller – English and European Furniture, Ceramics and Decorations, Part II Lot 848 on May 10th, 2018.
This piece is in excellent condition with minor restoration to the center tread.
