The rectangular top, ratcheted and with a removable folio bar that can be used in two positions above an interior well with recessed candle-arms, over a trestle base on original brass casters.

The table is manually adjustable in height as shown in the images, at ten different increments so it can be used for multiple functions: desk, drafting table, folio stand and standing desk.

With the dawn of the industrial revolution and the Age of Enlightenment of the 18th century there was a fascination in England for metamorphic furniture that would display ingenuity, could satisfy multiple functions and most importantly would impress the viewer.

Interestingly the table still impresses.
