Of superb quality with a circular revolving and tilting top finely decorated with a landscape and boats on a lake amidst pavilions all within a border of sinuous dragons. The baluster stem to the base incorporating a birdcage action similarly decorated with the legs in the form of scaled , arched backs of dragons ending in finely carved open-mouthed dragon heads with red tongues and golden pearls. A table of identical form with minor differences in the gilded decoration was exhibited in “Philadelphians and the China Trade 1784-1844” at the Philadelphia Museum of Art 1984, catalog item 159, page 162, the property of the Andalusia Foundation, Andalusia, Pennsylvania having descended in the Biddle family.
