All in beech with ash backs and elm seats, five of the chairs are stamped with the makers initials T. B. Each chair has single ring and concave turned legs with lower ring and straight turned feet with the legs connected by H-form elliptical turned stretchers. The rear hoop backs enclosing a simple but highly attractive gothic tracery design.
In addition to the five chairs marked TB, two chairs although identical in design have through-tenon legs and a third has a slightly squarer seat.
Bernard D. Cotton, author of The English Regional Chair, Antiques Collectors Club, 1990 page 56, figure TV 51 illustrates an identical chair stamped T. B., and states that they are attributed to High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire in the Thames Valley 1800-1840.
