DESCRIPTION

By William Bryant of 71 St. Paul's Churchyard, London which dates this very fine piece to between 1826 and 1832 when the firm relocated to 30 St. James Street, London.

The exterior of the box is mahogany with ebony and brass inlay, the sides with flush campaign handles, the interior of the box with the original leather, slightly distressed, the interior extraordinarily retains the original brass candle nozzles and bobeches that would have been supplied with the desk.  As usual with desks of this quality it contains secret hiding places and hidden release mechanisms.

In addition, the box converts to a book rest and retains the original book support.

Decorative brass inlaid designs to the two lower corners are engraved in script “Bryant Maker” and “St Pauls 71 Ch Yd London”

A rare and highly desirable piece in untouched condition.

We have commissioned the construction of a matching stand for ease of display or to convert the desk into a side table.  The current height is 27 inches overall but we could adjust the base to have a lower height if necessary.
