Product Description

These dining chairs have a well developed folding action which, excepting the leather upholstered seat and bolts, keeps the chair in one piece when dis-assembled. Once the seat and bolts are removed the chair hinges on both the front and back rail allowing it to pack flat for travel with minimal opportunity for loss of parts. A set of chairs with a similar locking action, by W Blackie is illustrated in the Pictorial Dictionary of British 19th Century Furniture Design. This set illustrated in “War Cabinets” by Amin Jaffer, Country Life, December 30th 2004.

English c.1835
