Product Description

Chairs converting to library steps were originally developed by the London firm of Morgan and Sanders who published their design in Ackerman’s Registry in July 1811. This walnut example is of slightly later manufacture and although it is probably of provincial manufacture is of excellent quality, with fine reeded design to the legs, stiles and back splats. Retaining the original, albeit worn felt to the four steps. The original seat now covered in a fabulous horse-hair fabric.

English c. 1815-1820
