DESCRIPTION

With narrow rims crimped to resemble European silver, these plates have traditionally been thought to depict Deshima Island although unquestionably they are Dutch landscapes and probably were copied from Delft plates with scenes by Frederick van Frytom (1652-1702). Pieces are also known in Japanese porcelain. (one plate with two small chips filled, the other with 1 inch hairline to the rim).

Chinese for the Dutch Market. Kang-Hsi c.1690-1700
