George II Giltwood Console Table.

George II Giltwood Console Table.

A particularly good example of a Chippendale period gilt console table. The top is a pleasing mottled Verde Antico marble above a pierced foliate and C-scroll frieze raised on cabriole legs similarly decorated and terminating in leafy-scroll toes.

This piece must have been placed in a prominent position as the sides are carved to the same standard as the front of the console.

English c.1750.
